Australia’s mining industry registered an 8.7% rise in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.01% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.42% share in March 2022, recording an increase of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.39% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s mining industry in March 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 40.32% in March 2022, registering a 25% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25.81% share, a decrease of 15.79% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 16.13%, registering a 25% rise from February 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 11.29%, down 22.22% over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 36.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s mining industry during March 2022 over February 2022.
BHP posted 12 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by Evolution Mining with 9 jobs and a 50% growth. Gold Fields with 7 IT jobs, recorded a 12.5% decline, while Rio Tinto recorded an increase of 200% with 6 job postings during March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.13%, down by 12.77% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.97% share, registered an increase of 44.44% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.9% share, up 33.33% over February 2022.
