The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.02% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.09% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 40% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s mining industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Fortescue Metals Group posted 8 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by Gold Fields with 8 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Newcrest Mining with 7 IT jobs and Evolution Mining with 6 jobs, recorded a 12.5% decline and a 100% growth, respectively, while BHP recorded an increase of 50% with 6 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.81%, up by 34.29% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.52% share, registered a decline of 25% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.68% share, up 100% over January 2022.
