October 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.89% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.84% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 32.71% in October 2021, a 33.96% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 22.43% in October 2021, marking a 7.69% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 18.69% in October 2021, a 17.65% rise from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 15% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Hill & Smith posted 13 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 30% over the previous month, followed by Gold Fields with 12 jobs and a 50% drop. AngloGold Ashanti with 9 IT jobs and BHP with 9 jobs, recorded a 10% drop and a 10% drop, respectively, while Fortescue Metals Group recorded a 33.33% increase with 8 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry

Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 72.9% share in October 2021, an 18.75% decrease over September 2021. New Zealand featured next with a 12.15% share, up 30% over the previous month. India recorded a 9.35% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.16%, down by 13.95% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.43% share, registered a decline of 4% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.48% share, down 33.33% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.93%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
