March 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.31% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.27% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering an increase of 0.54% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 47.25% in March 2022, a 13.16% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.08% in March 2022, marking a 25% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 15.38% in March 2022, a 39.13% drop from February 2022.

Top five mining companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 11.63% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during March 2022 over previous month.
BHP posted 12 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered an increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by Anglo American with 11 jobs and a 45% drop. Hill & Smith with 9 IT jobs and Evolution Mining with 9 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 50% rise, respectively, while Gold Fields recorded a 12.5% decline with 7 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 68.13% share in March 2022, a flat growth over February 2022. India featured next with a 12.09% share, down 42.11% over the previous month. New Zealand recorded a 9.89% share, a growth of 200% compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.84%, down by 18.06% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.08% share, registered a decline of 8.7% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.09% share, flat growth over February 2022.
