May 2022 has seen an increase of 8.83% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.78% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 52.94% in May 2022, a 125% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 17.65% in May 2022, marking a 7.69% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.24% in May 2022, a 28.57% rise from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 115.79% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Gold Fields posted 15 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 87.5% over the previous month, followed by Newcrest Mining with 11 jobs and a 450% growth. Rio Tinto with 6 IT jobs and Hill & Smith with 5 jobs, recorded a 100% rise and a 16.67% drop, respectively, while Aditya Birla Management Corp recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with an 80.88% share in May 2022, a 120% increase over April 2022. New Zealand featured next with a 7.35% share, down 16.67% over the previous month. India recorded a 5.88% share, a drop of 50% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.94%, up by 70.97% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 13.24% share, registered a growth of 350% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.82% share, down 45.45% over April 2022.
