February 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.9% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.98% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.47% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 34.62% in February 2022, a 33.33% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 25.96% in February 2022, marking a 12.5% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 22.12% in February 2022, a flat growth from January 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 35.14% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Anglo American posted 20 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Fortescue Metals Group with 8 jobs and a 100% growth. Gold Fields with 8 IT jobs and Newcrest Mining with 7 jobs, recorded a 33.33% rise and a 12.5% drop, respectively, while Rio Tinto recorded a 75% increase with 7 job postings during February 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry

Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 59.62% share in February 2022, a 24% increase over January 2022. India featured next with a 16.35% share, up 70% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 9.62% share, a drop of 16.67% compared with January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.27%, up by 18.33% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.15% share, registered a growth of 29.41% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.58% share, up 175% over January 2022.
