September 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.1% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.2% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 44.35% in September 2021, a flat growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20.87% in September 2021, marking a 9.09% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 13.91% in September 2021, a 5.88% drop from August 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 16.36% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Gold Fields posted 24 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by BlueScope Steel with 11 jobs and a 175% growth. BHP with 10 IT jobs and Hill & Smith with 10 jobs, recorded a 9.09% drop and a 66.67% rise, respectively, while AngloGold Ashanti recorded a 10% decline with 9 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry

Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 74.78% share in September 2021, a 14.85% decrease over August 2021. India featured next with a 13.04% share, up 87.5% over the previous month. New Zealand recorded an 8.7% share, a growth of 66.67% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.17%, down by 18.63% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 17.39% share, registered a growth of 42.86% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.43% share, up 200% over August 2021.
