IT jobs accounted for a 4.33% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 45% in November 2021, a 7.14% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 22% in November 2021, marking a 10% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 19% in November 2021, a 26.92% drop from October 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 11.36% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during November 2021 over previous month.
BHP posted 12 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Evolution Mining with 12 jobs and a 71.43% growth. Fortescue Metals Group with 11 IT jobs and Hill & Smith with 8 jobs, recorded a 37.5% rise and a 52.94% drop, respectively, while Rio Tinto recorded a 100% increase with 6 job postings during November 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 76% share in November 2021, a 9.52% decrease over October 2021. India featured next with a 9% share, down 10% over the previous month. New Zealand recorded an 8% share, a drop of 52.94% compared with October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62%, down by 20.51% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22% share, registered a decline of 21.43% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15% share, up 36.36% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
