Australia accounts for 5% of global production, with the other largest producers being Mexico (24%), China (14%), Peru (12%) and Chile (6%).

Leading producers of silver in Australia are South32, Glencore, BHP and Evolution Mining. South32's output was 14,372koz in 2021, up by 24% on 2020. Glencore produced 8,238koz, a decrease of 4%, and output from BHP was 1,065koz, an increase of 9% on the previous year.
