The US mining industry registered a 10.4% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 4.61% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.18% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.74% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.1% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US mining industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 37.14% in July 2021, an 11.43% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.14% share, an increase of 5.88% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 16.19%, registering a 750% rise from June 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 16.19%, up 54.55% over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in the US IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 91.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US mining industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

RTI International Metals posted 12 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by Freeport-McMoRan with 11 jobs and an 83.33% growth. Freeport-McMoRan with 10 IT jobs and Trimet with 8 jobs, recorded an 11.11% growth and a 300% increase, respectively, while Reliance Steel & Aluminum recorded a 400% increase with 5 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.29%, up by 35.71% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 35.24% share, a growth of 5.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.48% share, up 37.5% over June 2021.
