July 2021 has seen decrease of 4.39% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.18% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.58% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 36.07% in July 2021, a flat growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 18.85% in July 2021, marking an 11.54% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 17.21% in July 2021, a 61.54% growth from June 2021.
Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 14.75% in July 2021, an 800% rise over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 130.43% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Rio Tinto posted 12 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by RTI International Metals with 12 jobs and a 100% growth. Freeport-McMoRan with 11 IT jobs and Freeport-McMoRan with 10 jobs, recorded an 83.33% growth and an 11.11% increase, respectively, while Trimet recorded a 300% increase with 8 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with an 86.07% share in July 2021, a 22.09% rise over June 2021. Canada featured next with a 13.93% share, down 32% over the previous month.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.92%, up by 11.67% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 35.25% share, a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.84% share, up 33.33% over June 2021.
