August 2021 has seen an increase of 12.2% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.81% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 43.85% in August 2021, a 39.02% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.23% in August 2021, marking a 4.17% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 11.54% in August 2021, a 150% rise from July 2021.

Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 58.06% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during August 2021 over previous month.

RTI International Metals posted 16 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Tronox with 12 jobs and an 1100% growth. Freeport-McMoRan with 8 IT jobs and Nucor with 7 jobs, recorded a 20% drop and a 250% rise, respectively, while En+ Group recorded a flat growth with 6 job postings during August 2021.

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 90.77% share in August 2021, an 11.32% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with a 9.23% share, down 7.69% over the previous month.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.08%, up by 13.11% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 33.85% share, registered a growth of 2.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.08% share, up 13.33% over July 2021.
