June 2021 has seen an increase of 4.31% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.05% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering an increase of 0.36% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 38.24% in June 2021, a 79.31% growth over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 16.18% in June 2021, marking a 340% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.18% in June 2021, a 15.79% growth from May 2021.

Top five mining companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 210% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during June 2021 over previous month.

Gold Fields posted 31 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 158.33% over the previous month, followed by Hill & Smith with 22 jobs and a flat growth. Glencore with 20 IT jobs and AngloGold Ashanti with 10 jobs, recorded a 53.85% growth and a 900% increase, respectively, while Rio Tinto recorded a 150% an increase with 10 job postings during June 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry

Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 74.26% share in June 2021, a 94.23% rise over May 2021. New Zealand featured next with a 17.65% share, flat growth over the previous month. Philippines recorded a 2.21% share, a flat growth compared with May 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.06%, up by 127.91% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.21% share, a growth of 54.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 0.74% share, down 50% over May 2021.
