Soma Gold has reported the discovery of a new quartz vein in the upper part of the Atenas Zone within the Cordero Mine in Antioquia, Colombia.

The company completed 16 drill-holes at Atenas in 2026, covering a total of 1,838m, as part of its ongoing surface drilling programme.

Assay results from 14 of these holes have been released, with grades reaching up to 167.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Notable intercepts include 15.3g/t gold over 6.05m and 28.2g/t gold over 3m, which contained a higher-grade interval of 167.2g/t gold over 0.47m. Other significant results ranged from 4.6g/t to 20.6g/t gold across various intercept lengths.

Drilling targeted the shallow, up-dip extent of the Atenas Zone.

According to Soma Gold, many of the 2026 drill-holes intersected two mineralised structures now identified as the Upper Atenas Vein and the upper Upper Atenas Vein (uUAV).

The newly discovered uUAV vein, which sits structurally above the main Atenas Vein, has a strike length of 175m and remains open towards the north-north-west.

The dip extent established so far is 30m and remains open up-dip.

A review of historical drill core indicated previously unsampled intervals that may correspond to extensions of the new vein, although additional assay data is pending.

A total of 811 core samples were collected from zones showing quartz veins or alteration, with 47 returning more than 2.5g/t gold and 20 above 10g/t gold.

Soma exploration vice-president Chris Buchanan said: “The discovery of a new high-grade vein zone in the hanging wall of the upper Atenas Zone demonstrates that continued infill and exploration drilling will add gold ounces to Cordero’s mineral resource.

“The newly discovered vein lies about 20m above the current conventional mining operations on the Atenas Vein. The exploration team expects the ongoing drill programmes near the Cordero Deposit will identify additional veins like the one in the Atenas Zone.”

The Cordero Deposit is hosted within the El Carmen Stock, featuring several phases of quartz vein development associated with gold mineralisation.

The company is continuing exploration with one surface drill rig at Cordero and another at its Escondida Project.

In July 2026, Soma Gold received approval from Colombia’s Agencia Nacional de Mineria to expand production at the Aurora Mine from 25 tonnes per day (tpd) to 75tpd.
