Amex Gold Mining has completed the construction of an underground portal and carried out the first blast for ramp development at its wholly owned Perron Gold Project in Quebec, Canada.
The completion of the initial blast marks the start of underground development activities at the site, which is located in the Valcanton territory approximately 110km north of Rouyn-Noranda.

Underground mining contractor CMAC-Thyssen has begun work on the ramp, which is set to reach a vertical depth of approximately 235m.
The ramp’s main purpose is to provide access to the high-grade Champagne Zone and support a forthcoming 40,000t bulk sample programme.
According to the company, the ongoing underground development will put in place the infrastructure needed to access the mineralised zone and complete the bulk sample.
The bulk sample is intended to generate additional data on mining conditions, grade continuity, dilution, reconciliation and metallurgical performance, while also reducing risks for later stages of the Perron project.
The Perron Gold Project consists of 183 contiguous claims covering a surface area of 65.72km² and contains multiple zones of high-grade gold mineralisation, as well as copper-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and gold-rich VMS mineralisation.
Amex Exploration president and CEO Victor Cantore said: “With the portal complete, we are moving to on-schedule ramp development that will allow us to access the high-grade Champagne Zone.
“The first blast of the underground ramp is a significant milestone for Amex. The portal and ramp are being built to production-scale specifications, supporting both the bulk sample and future mine development.
“This work will give our team direct underground access to the deposit and represents an important step in the continued advancement and de-risking of Perron.”
Last month, the company announced it had completed all drill-and-blast work for a bulk-sample portal at the Perron development site.
