Epiroc has received an order valued at approximately $64m (Skr610m) from MMG for underground mining equipment to be used at the Khoemacau Copper Mine in north-west Botswana.
The order, which was booked in the third quarter of 2026 (Q3 2026), includes underground drilling rigs, loaders and mine trucks.

MMG placed the order in cooperation with mining contractors China Huaye and 23MCC, both subsidiaries of China Minmetals, the majority shareholder in MMG.
The equipment order comprises Epiroc’s Boomer M20 S face drilling rigs; Simba E70 S ITH production drilling rigs; Cabletec M10 S cable bolting rigs; Scooptram ST18 S loaders; and Minetruck MT65 S vehicles.
MMG Africa operations president Xia Weiquan said: “I believe this fleet from Epiroc, including important on-site technical support, will significantly enhance our underground mining productivity and safety in Botswana.
“With partners like Epiroc, MMG will also continue to build a local talent pipeline with skilled mining professionals and a sustainable future for Botswana.”
The machines are part of the Smart series, designed to support automation and remote-control technologies.
Epiroc will also supply a remote-control solution for the loaders, spare parts, tools and on-site service.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q4 2026 and expected to conclude by Q2 2028.
In addition to equipment supply, Epiroc is expanding its aftermarket facilities in Botswana to better serve regional mining operations.
The company will also provide specialised training programmes and simulators, and maintain an on-site parts inventory to support the new fleet.
