Sandvik has secured an order valued at approximately $29m (Skr275m) from Kamoa Copper to supply 19 Toro trucks and loaders for the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The mine is operated as a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global (0.8%) and the Government of DRC (20%).

The contract covers the delivery of 12 Toro TH663i trucks and seven Toro LH621i loaders.
Two of the loaders will be equipped with Sandvik’s AutoMine autonomous technology.
The order will be booked in the third quarter of 2026 (Q3 2026).
Delivery is scheduled to begin with four trucks in Q4 2026, followed by 13 vehicles in Q1 2027 and the final two loaders in Q3 2027.
Sandvik mining business area president Patrick Murphy said: “Sandvik’s intelligent machines have been operating at Kamoa-Kakula since 2019, and I am pleased to see that we once again have been selected to supply our leading solutions, supporting more productive, efficient and safer mining operations.”
In May 2026, Kamoa Copper also purchased three additional AutoMine Lite systems to expand the fleet.
These will operate alongside the mine’s existing AutoMine Lite installation, increasing the total to four.
The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex is an underground mining operation with production guidance of 290,000–310,000t of copper in 2026.
The site is targeting annual production of around 500,000t from 2028.
Sandvik’s equipment has been in use at the Kamoa-Kakula site since 2019.
With the latest purchase, the number of Sandvik underground trucks, loaders and drills at the complex will exceed 100 units.
Kamoa Copper managing director Annebel Oosthuizen said: “Our decision to reinvest in Sandvik equipment is based on years of proven operational performance at Kamoa-Kakula.
“The trucks and loaders have consistently delivered the availability, productivity and reliability we need to support one of the world’s leading underground copper operations.”
Sandvik said it operates a dedicated technical support team and a vendor-managed inventory facility at Kamoa-Kakula to help ensure equipment reliability.
The Kamoa-Kakula deposit is located approximately 25km west of Kolwezi and 270km from Lubumbashi within the Central African Copperbelt.
Last month, Sandvik secured an order from Mexican mining contractor Constructora Minera Villagómez to supply underground mining equipment.
