MaxMine has announced the launch of its new AI assistant, MAXI, designed specifically for fleet management systems in the mining sector.
This development aims to enhance data accessibility and operational efficiency for site supervisors.

MAXI is compatible with both desktop and mobile platforms and incorporates a hands-free speech-to-text feature. This allows mining supervisors, who are often on-site without direct access to fleet management systems, to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Leveraging detailed analytics from MaxMine’s Pulse and Impact systems, MAXI can identify performance issues such as operational gaps and equipment malfunctions.
Supervisors can inquire about specific operation details such as the frequency of water truck visits to refill stations or excavator performance metrics.
MAXI also facilitates real-time documentation of shift activities and automatically generates end-of-shift reports.
Future updates will include the ability to send real-time alerts and propose immediate solutions, enhancing communication between supervisors and operators.

The AI assistant provides several advantages such as enabling swift decision-making, supporting the onboarding of new supervisors and improving in-field decision visibility. It also integrates with trusted MaxMine applications to verify provided data.
It has undergone testing at two Queensland mine sites in collaboration with Batchfire Resources, a company known for producing low-emission-energy coal. The trials have shown promise in enhancing safety and operational performance.
Batchfire Resources ESG & Development general manager Stuart Schmidt said: “MAXI has shown huge promise in these early trials, particularly for supervisors. During the trial, it helped improve accountability and communication between operators and supervisors because all are working from the same live information.
“Having recommendations surface automatically enabled short interval control to be more practical and actionable for the supervisors of the truck and excavator operations.”
MAXI operates using a language model hosted in MaxMine’s data centre, ensuring that user data remains secure. The system accesses datasets via custom-developed protocols to provide accurate responses to queries.
MaxMine recently expanded its mining fleet management, introducing new business intelligence tools and AI-powered decision support aimed at improving productivity for mine operators.
