Guardian Metal Resources has expanded its mining operations with the acquisition of the Pilot North Tungsten Project in Nevada, US.

The project, situated approximately 15km north-west of the company’s existing Pilot Mountain Project, is part of Guardian Metal’s strategic initiative to lead the resurgence of domestic tungsten production in the US.

The Pilot North Tungsten Project was acquired through the staking of 59 new Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lode claims in the Walker Lane Mineral Belt.

This area encompasses three historical tungsten mines from World War II – Copper Head, Western Metals, and Jasper – along with other reported prospects for tungsten, copper, and iron.

Fieldwork has revealed that these prospects share a geological similarity with the deposits at Pilot Mountain, featuring tungsten-copper-polymetallic skarn mineralisation at the juncture of granitic intrusions and limestone formations.

The company holds complete ownership of the Pilot North Project through its subsidiary, Golden Metal Resources, without any royalty obligations.

Guardian Metal CEO Oliver Friesen said: “Following the identification of new targets through our regional exploration programme, we moved quickly to stake 100%-owned claims to form the Pilot North Project, which has highly prospective geology and a history of production, and which is located just 15km from our flagship Pilot Mountain project.

“The company’s expert geological consultant will be on site before the end of the month to further evaluate the promising Pilot North prospects and assess their potential to complement the ongoing exploration and development at Pilot Mountain.”

Additionally, Guardian Metal Resources provided an update in December 2024 on its due diligence for acquiring the Tempiute Tungsten Mine & Mill project, also in Nevada.

The Tempiute project, less than 240km north of Las Vegas, is being pursued in partnership with Hinkinite Resources.
