Roxgold has secured permitting approval of the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) to develop the Bagassi South project from the Burkina Faso Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.

The company noted that the approval is an important step in the permitting process and solidifies the project’s development timeline.

Bagassi South is one of the targets within the Yaramoko permit, which covers around 196km² in the Province of Balé in south-western Burkina Faso.

Based on mapping, the area at Bagassi South is expected to host a quartz, sericite, pyrite (QSP) alteration zone currently mapped to be around 250m along a strike at the surface.

As part of its continuing efforts to advance the development of the project, the company intends to begin underground mine development and construction activities in the first quarter of this year.

Having obtained approval of the ESIA, the company has filed an application for an extension of its exploitation permit to include the Bagassi South deposits.

Roxgold expects the Burkina Faso Government to make a decision regarding the extension in the second quarter of this year.
