BT has secured a contract from international mining and construction equipment manufacturer Komatsu for new global IT infrastructure.
This new infrastructure will cover 26 sites spread over 15 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific and South America.

Under the contract, BT will design, develop and manage hybrid network that combines BT’s IP Connect Global with its hybrid service (hVPN) for smaller locations. It will allow office workers to use corporate network securely online.
Komatsu’s business-critical voice communications will be routed through BT’s One Voice centralised SIP trunking service for nearly 1,100 employees. This will replace traditional voice services with voice-over-IP technology.
BT claimed that its biggest customers would reduce costs by up to 34% by changing to BT One Voice.
The contract scope includes performance improvements for Komatsu’s enterprise applications, including its voice traffic when it uses BT Connect Intelligence. It enables measuring of the quality of service for business outcomes rather than depending on traditional network SLAs.

In the first step, BT Advise, the professional services team of BT, will consolidate Komatsu’s central IT infrastructure in two BT data centres.
BT Compute data centre services include telehousing, internet access and load balancing, improving distribution of workloads across several computing resources.
