DRA Global (DRA) has secured a contract worth A$140m ($108.2m) from Bravus Mining and Resources (formerly Adani) for the Carmichael coal mine and rail project in Queensland, Australia.
Located in Clermont Town, Central Queensland, Australia, the Carmichael project includes a 27.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) greenfield coal mine and a 200km railway line connecting the mine to the existing Goonyella rail system.

Under the contract, DRA Global will construct the Carmichael coal processing infrastructure, supply sizing and conveying equipment as well as build the train load-out infrastructure.
Bravus Mining & Resources CEO David Boshoff said DRA demonstrated their experience and capability on previous work on the Carmichael Project.
Boshoff added: “DRA will carry out the design, engineering and construction of our Coal Preparation Plant, in addition to the Coal Handling Plant that they are already delivering.
“We expect to see more than 250 people working on these combined projects onsite, ensuring regional Queensland cities like Mackay see the benefits going back into their local economies.”

Boshoff further noted: “In doing so, the finished product is more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
“It is these facilities that will see Carmichael coal become some of the better-quality coal from around the world.”
Boshoff noted that the project has created more than 2,000 jobs and signed more than A$1.5bn ($1.09bn) in contracts, with more than 88% of the contracts being delivered in Queensland.
The project is slated to commence its first coal production in 2021.
