Riverside Resources and its partner Questcorp Mining have completed expanded geophysical surveys at the La Union Project in Sonora, Mexico, in support of their ongoing drilling operations.

The companies carried out two main geophysical studies: an aeromagnetic drone survey and an induced polarisation (IP) ground geophysics survey.

The aeromagnetic survey, which covered 193km across 145 flight lines and 55km of tie lines, has finished and the data has been delivered.

This information is being incorporated into the current summer drilling programme at La Union.

The IP ground survey, consisting of five lines, has also concluded, with processed results expected soon.

These geophysical datasets aim to help interpret and expand upon results from the current core drilling activities at three key areas, namely Union, Union North and Jabali.

So far, drilling has been completed at the Union and Union North targets, while work remains active at Jabali.

The IP information is being used to refine existing drill targets and support the identification of new ones, with the companies expecting it to define both ongoing and wider exploration zones.

Aeromagnetic analysis has highlighted structural trends including north-east and north-west-trending cross structures that may overlap with mapped feeder fault zones relevant to carbonate replacement deposit and sediment-hosted gold mineralisation.

The surveys also provide improved imaging of subsurface structures and enable further context for known mineralisation near diorite bodies.

The La Union Project’s expanded geophysical programme is described as building on initial exploration work and placing the site within a larger-scale regional perspective.

Riverside Resources president and CEO John-Mark Staude said: “With the IP survey now complete, combined with the processed aeromagnetic data, we have an expanded view of the Union Project’s targets and structural framework, both at depth and along strike from current drilling.

“Our teams are in the field continuing phase two drilling, and this data is immediately helping us expand targeting and prioritise the project’s robust set of targets. The programme is going well, and our teams are processing drill core and sending samples to the laboratory for assays.”

Questcorp Mining and Riverside Resources commenced the phase-two exploration programme at the La Union Project earlier this year.
