The Indian Ministry of Mines has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Energy & Mines of British Columbia Province for the promotion of mining and geoscience sectors.

Under the MoU, India and British Columbia will provide mutual cooperation in the mining and geoscience sectors, and will encourage and foster mining investment, transfers of technology and services, and joint ventures.

Both the governments will set up a joint working group to coordinate implementation of activities.

The working group will hold its first meeting in the March 2012.

India has previously signed MoUs with the Federal Government of Canada and Provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan.
