EP2 is designed to add 13mtpa of throughput capacity.
Combined with the phase 1A project (8mtpa), this would take total throughput capacity at Blackwater to 21mtpa.
Lycopodium has already been providing EPCM services for phase 1A.
It also worked on earlier elements of the EP2 development, including preparation of the feasibility study and front-end engineering and design services for the new plant.
Early works on EP2 are under way, including earthworks at the new plant site.
Artemis Gold recently announced the start of major construction, with the first concrete pour for ball mill foundations completed ahead of schedule.
Lycopodium operates offices across Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Ghana, Namibia, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania and the US.
Lycopodium managing director and CEO Peter De Leo said: “We are very pleased to be given this opportunity to continue to work with Artemis Gold in the further development of the Blackwater Mine.
“Blackwater is a world-class facility in a tier-one mining jurisdiction, and our involvement in the mine’s expansion is particularly meaningful, given it represents a material domestic project to be delivered by our Canadian-based business.”
In July 2025, Lycopodium secured an EPCM contract worth around A$48m for the Nyanzaga gold project owned by Perseus Mining.
