World’s ten largest platinum mines in 2021

Here are the ten largest platinum mines by production across the world in 2021, according to GlobalData’s mining database.

1. Impala Mine

The Impala Mine is an underground mine situated in North West, South Africa. Owned by Impala Platinum Holdings, the brownfield mine produced an estimated 696.4 thousand ounces of platinum in 2021. The mine will operate until 2035.

2. Marikana Mine (Lonmin)

Located in North West, South Africa, the Marikana Mine (Lonmin) is owned by Sibanye Stillwater. The surface and underground mine produced an estimated 565.8 thousand ounces of platinum in 2021. The mine will operate until 2036.

3. Amandelbult Mine

10. Mupfuti Mine

The Mupfuti Mine is an underground mine situated in Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. Owned by Impala Platinum Holdings, the greenfield mine produced an estimated 207.7 thousand ounces of platinum in 2021. The mine is expected to operate until 2027.
