A gas explosion at Xialiuchong coal mine in China has killed 29 miners.

According to authorities, a total of 35 miners were working underground on Saturday at the time of the explosion, reports Xinhua.

The remaining six miners were rescued, sent to hospital for treatment and have reported no life-threatening conditions, according to authorities.

The state-owned Xialiuchong coal mine is located in Changjiang township of Hengshan county, Hengyang city, and is a legallyoperating mine with more than 160 miners.
