LOESCHE is supplying a CCG grinding plant for Siam City Cement (Lanka) which will be used in the harbour area of Galle on the southern tip of Sri Lanka as part of an expansion of the Ruhunu cement plant.
A wide variety of cement types can be produced with the CCG grinding plant. At its heart is the well-proven LOESCHE vertical roller mill (VRM). With this mill, clinker and granulated blast furnace slag are ground into Portland Limestone Cement (PLC) and Portland Slag Cement (PSC) with a throughput of up to 60t/h.
The advantages of the LOESCHE CCG plant with its reliable, tried and tested components are in part due to the fact that it can be quickly and easily adjusted to different products. As a result, Siam City Cement can react flexibly to changed market conditions and also has the option of trying product test runs for new markets. In addition, the CCG also impresses with its low specific energy consumption and its easy maintenance. Last but not least, thanks to its modular structure, the LOESCHE CCG is ready for operation after a short, low-cost assembly period. The delivery time to the Ruhunu cement plant will take only eight months, meaning the grinding plant can be put into operation as early as June 2018.
The order was placed thanks to these advantages in technology relationship with Siam City Cement. Since the start of the 1990s, the cement producer has also been successfully counting on LOESCHE products in Thailand, where they are still being used productively today. The Ruhuni work in the Galle area with a production capacity of one million tonnes a year according to the most recent figures is operated under the Siam City Cement brand INSEE, which has recently emerged from a takeover of the cement activities of Holcim Lanka.
In order to meet customer demands, this new CCG system has been designed with a larger high-performance mill. This ‘jumbo size version’ with its higher capacity has now been added into the LOESCHE portfolio.
