Gujarat NRE has received approval form the New South Wales (NSW) Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) to upgrade its existing infrastructure at the NRE No.1 mine at Russell Vale in NSW, Australia.

A total of $122m will be spent on the upgrade works.

The firm has received approval to continue the extraction of up to 1Mtpa of coking coal from the Bulli and Wongawilli seams over the next three years.

The approval will also allow the firm to continue with coal transportation to the Port Kembla Coal Terminal and to upgrade the existing surface facilities and infrastructure.

PAC has given the approval following consideration of the Department of Planning’s assessment report, including agency and public submissions.
