Boskalis will remove about 20 million cubic metres of overburden material via a cutter suction dredger and dry the mine pit to allow the dry earth moving equipment to excavate the remainder of the overburden material overlaying the bauxite.

The dry earth moving equipment will excavate about 3.8Mt of bauxite and transport it to the Paranam refinery, located 12km from the mining area.

The work is scheduled to commence shortly and is expected to be completed by early 2015.
