South Africa’s minerals and energy minister  Gwede Mantashe has urged miners to test for Covid-19 to the fullest extent, so as to be able to properly fight the virus.

As the country eases its lockdown this week, there are fears that companies could fail to report positive Covid-19 cases so as to avoid closures. Mantashe has warned against this, and urged that mining companies need to implement rigorous testing and screening facilities at mines.
