District Metals has engaged Expert Geophysics Surveys (EGS) to undertake a helicopter-borne geophysical survey at its Alum Shale Properties in Jämtland and Västerbottens counties in north-central Sweden.
The survey will employ the Mobile MagnetoTellurics System (MobileMT) and cover around 2,253 line kilometres, with lines spaced 400m apart.
In June 2025, District Metals used the MobileMT survey to map the mineralised Alum Shale that hosts the Viken Energy Metals Deposit.
The company reported that this outcome supported further application of the geophysical method at its Alum Shale Properties.
In July 2025, the MobileMT survey covered approximately half of the 151,329-hectare Alum Shale Properties and identified several large, conductive anomalies, which District Metals noted as possible mineralisation targets.
The company plans to prioritise follow-up work in areas where the mineralised Alum Shale accumulations are shallow and thickest.
District Metals noted that the generally flat-lying Alum Shale units contain significant graphite, contributing to strong conductive responses, particularly in areas connected to the Viken Deposit.
The June MobileMT survey clarified these geophysical signatures and helped define potential drilling targets at both the Alum Shale and Viken sites.
District Metals CEO Garrett Ainsworth said: “The decision to expand the MobileMT survey across our Alum Shale Properties is supported by the excellent results achieved at the Viken Deposit, where the survey successfully mapped the mineralised Alum Shale host rock and validated MobileMT as a highly effective exploration tool.
“With approximately half of our Alum Shales land package surveyed to date, we have already identified numerous large conductive anomalies that we have recently started to drill test at the Österkälen mineral licence.”
The MobileMT technology, introduced by Expert Geophysics Surveys in 2018, is designed for airborne natural source audio frequency magnetotellurics surveys.
Last month, the company begun diamond drilling at the Österkälen mineral licence, part of the Alum Shale Properties.
