Brazil Minerals subsidiary RST Recursos Minerais has secured a permit from local environmental regulatory agency to start mining for diamonds and gold in one of its mineral rights areas in the Jequitinhonha River valley.

The firm owns ten mining concessions and 12 other mineral rights for diamond and gold in the region.

Valid for an initial period of four years, the permit allows the firm to initiate its exploration work at one of the sites, with the exact location not yet been disclosed.

The firm conducted focused research drilling at this RST site, with preliminary results disclosed on 26 May.

As well as mining at the now approved location, BMIX wants to continue drilling and look for additional locales within RST’s mineral rights area.
