The ramp is expected to provide access to the eastern and central portions of the deposit.

The company has completed an entrance and ramp design, which is being used for tendering. It expects to complete contractor selection for underground tunnelling this month.

Leagold Mining CEO Neil Woodyer said: “Development of the exploration ramp is an important step in advancing Bermejal underground towards production.

"Access to the ore body will also provide a larger sample for confirmatory metallurgical testwork for heap leaching."

"The mineralisation is similar to the Los Filos underground deposits where we are currently mining, and this development provides an opportunity to carry out additional exploration from underground, as well as demonstrate the mineability of Bermejal underground.

The company noted that the permit and the completion of other works will eventually advance the deposit towards declaration of reserves and incorporation into the mine plan.

The portal design begins at 1,329m elevation in the bottom of Bermejal open-pit, with the ramp declining at 15% slope and extending 1,600m to the central, high-grade portion of Bermejal underground mineralisation.

According to the company, the portal preparation work will start in the third quarter of this year, while the ramp to the central sector will be completed by the fourth quarter of next year.
