Grande Portage Resources has contracted Admiralty Environmental of Alaska to conduct pre-permitting water baseline studies at the Herbert Glacier gold project in Alaska, US.
The multiyear baseline studies are necessary to obtain the permits under the State of Alaska large mine permitting process.
Baseline information is also required to obtain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit, Department of Environmental Conservation Certification and the approval of Department of Natural Resources Plans of Operation and Reclamation.
Grande Portage Resources’ president Ian Klassen said that the results from the company’s 2011 drill programme has led the firm to initiate the baseline study which will be part of producing any preliminary economic assessment, which, in turn, would lead to a pre-feasibility study.
