Hong Kong-based Citic Pacific Mining has awarded a scaffolding services contract to Australian firm Global Construction Services (GCS) for the company’s Sino Iron project.
Located 100km south-west of Karratha in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, Sino Iron is a magnetite iron ore project.

Under the two-year contract, GCS will provide scaffolding services at the project for ongoing maintenance, as well as shutdown requirements.
The services offered include supply, erection, and modification, in addition to removal of scaffolding and access solutions to all departments within the project.
GCS Group managing director Enzo Gullotti said: “The GCS Group is pleased this contract has been awarded, and to be working in partnership with Citic Pacific Mining, as it recognises GCS’s successful delivery capabilities with projects in the north-west.
“This contract represents another important step in our strategy to continue to build and secure annuity revenue streams in the mining, and oil and gas sectors.”

By GlobalDataThe magnetite mining and processing operation Sino Iron is said to be one of China’s largest investments into the Australian resources sector and is expected to generate $3.3bn in royalties for Western Australia.
Production of magnetite concentrate at the project began in late-2012 with initial shipment delivered to China in 2013.
According to Citic, the project is set to generate direct revenue of around $75bn to the Australia economy.
