Australia-based Peninsula Energy has completed its first delivery of uranium oxide from its Lance project in Wyoming, US.

The delivery is part of an agreement signed by the company’s wholly owned subsidiary Strata Energy in 2011 with a US utility.

In-situ uranium recovery operations began from the Ross Permit Area of the Lance Projects in December 2015 after the company received authorisation from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC).

"Phase one full production will see a total of seven header houses in operation."

The company said in a statement: "Production well flow-rates continue to be very good, uranium is being recovered and the second header house is being commissioned.

"Phase one full production will see a total of seven header houses in operation."

The NRC conducted preoperational inspections during November 2015 and later on confirmed that the constructed plant and associated site systems up to the ion exchange columns indicated that the plant is capable of conducting in-situ operations.

It was also confirmed that approved radiation safety and environmental monitoring programmes were in place.

The Lance Projects are located on the north-east flank of the Powder River Basin and have 305 line kilometres of identified roll fronts and an exploration target of 104-163mlb U3O8.
