Doray Minerals has awarded a contract to mining, crushing and civil contractor Maca to perform open-pit mining at its Deflector project located in the southern Murchison region of Western Australia.

Under the contract, Maca will begin mobilisation to site next year in order to start mining operations at the start of February 2016.

The project is expected to have duration of around 11 months, and will comprise open-pit mining services such as drilling and blasting, loading and hauling.

Maca CEO Chris Tuckwell said: "We are looking forward to continuing the strong working relationship we have established with Doray, having just completed other works on the Andy Well project over the last year."

The Deflector Gold Project was acquired by Doray Minerals following its purchase of Mutiny Gold in February 2015.

Deflector is a high-grade, gold-copper deposit and has an initial mine life of six years, and significant exploration potential within the under-explored 7km-long ‘Deflector Corridor’.

It is a shallow, narrow vein, high-grade deposit and will be mined using underground methods.

Maca has projects throughout Western Australia and Brazil, South America and offers a range of surface mining and crushing services, and civil infrastructure services.
