The US’s mining industry registered a 1.3% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.52% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.22% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry in April 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.93% in April 2022, registering a 1.75%

growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 18.18% share, an increase of 29.41% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 11.57%, registering a 30% decline from March 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 9.92%, down 7.69% over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 5.97% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

RTI International Metals posted 24 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a rise of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Nucor with 22 jobs and a 69.23% growth. Freeport-McMoRan with 12 IT jobs and Aditya Birla Management Corp with 7 jobs, recorded a 53.85% decline and a 16.67% growth, respectively, while Alcoa recorded an increase of 50% with 6 job postings during April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.55%, down by 1.49% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.75% share, registered an increase of 38.46% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 15.7% share, down 24% over March 2022.
