Europe witnessed a 9.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the mining industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

June 2022 has seen a decrease of 25.52% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.37% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 1.07% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 40.63% in June 2022, a 13.33% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 25% in June 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 9.38% in June 2022, a 70% drop from May 2022.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 9.38% in June 2022, a 50% rise over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 75% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during June 2022 over previous month.

Heraeus posted 9 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered an increase of 350% over the previous month, followed by ArcelorMittal with 4 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Eramet with 3 IT jobs and Voestalpine with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while MMC Norilsk Nickel recorded a 100% increase with 2 job postings during June 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry

Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 34.38% share in June 2022, a 120% increase over May 2022. Albania featured next with a 12.5% share, up 33.33% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 12.5% share, a drop of 66.67% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 93.75%, down by 18.92% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 3.13% share, registered a decline of 90.91% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Senior job ads with a 3.13% share, flat growth over May 2022.
