The patent application (Publication Number: US20230399267A1) describes a copper-ceramic substrate with specific characteristics. The substrate includes a ceramic carrier with at least one copper layer bonded to it. The copper layer must have a high copper content of at least 99.5%, with a silver content between 50 ppm and 3000 ppm, and a phosphorus content not exceeding 30 ppm. Additionally, the copper layer must have a minimum phosphorus content of 0.1 ppm.

Furthermore, the copper layer on the ceramic substrate must have a mean grain size ranging from 40 µm to 100 µm, with a preferred range of 40 µm to 80 µm. The substrate should also exhibit a penetration hardness of at least 0.7 GPa for specific penetration depths. Moreover, the copper layer should have controlled oxygen content, not exceeding 10 ppm but with a minimum content of 0.1 ppm. Additionally, the substrate must have limited content of various elements and impurities such as Cd, Ce, Ge, V, Zn, Bi, Se, Sn, Te, Al, Sb, Ti, Zr, As, Co, In, Mn, Pb, Si, B, Be, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, and S, not exceeding 50 ppm. These specific characteristics aim to enhance the performance and reliability of the copper-ceramic substrate in various applications.
