Management Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 12%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the mining industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 14% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 12% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Production Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in mining industry accounted for 26% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were ABB, Caterpillar, Rio Tinto, Newmont, and Cummins. Together they accounted for a combined share of 26% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the mining industry.

ABB posted 751 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Caterpillar 590 jobs, Rio Tinto 322 jobs, Newmont 301 jobs, and Cummins 246 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 43.20% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the mining industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 43.20% followed by Canada (13.29%) and Australia (11.48%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point higher than the 42.05% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
