DRA is currently designing a 400tph coal washing facility for Total Coal South Africa’s Dorstfontein project in Kriel. The project will include an export stockpile and withdrawal facility as well as a rail load-out terminal. Interestingly, the Dorstfontein project will be the division’s largest project to date and will include 10.5km of overland conveyors traversing a bridge over the Olifants River.

Work on the site is expected to start by January next year. The front end of the plant will be ready for commissioning within the next 12 months, allowing for the availability of export coal to ensue. This should lead to an overall project completion period of approximately 18 months.
