MOVUS Introduces FitMachine 3XT EX for Continuous Monitoring in Hazardous Areas

MOVUS Introduces FitMachine 3XT EX for Continuous Monitoring in Hazardous Areas-feature-image

MOVUS has announced the release of FitMachine 3XT EX, a wireless vibration and temperature sensor certified for use in hazardous industrial environments, with availability scheduled for February 2026.

Hazardous-area monitoring has long posed a trade-off between data quality and power consumption. The development of FitMachine 3XT EX focused on resolving those tensions.

Designed for continuous, long-term deployment in locations where access is limited and failure carries serious consequences, FitMachine 3XT EX is ATEX and IECEx certified and engineered for use in Zone 0 hazardous areas. The sensor measures three axes of vibration alongside temperature, providing high-resolution data suitable for both condition monitoring and detailed spectral analysis.

FitMachine 3XT EX operates on an ultra-low power architecture, supporting battery life of up to five years, depending on measurement intervals. The unit uses a field-replaceable AA lithium thionyl chloride battery, allowing maintenance without returning the sensor or disturbing the installation. A sealed IP66 enclosure and corrosion-resistant construction allow the device to be mounted directly to machinery in harsh industrial environments.

From a data perspective, the sensor supports programmable sample rates up to 25.6 kHz and high spectral resolution, enabling early detection of mechanical issues that may be missed by lower-fidelity monitoring approaches. The device can operate as a standalone sensor or as part of a broader wireless monitoring network, supporting unattended condition monitoring across complex sites.

Certification also plays a central role in the product’s design. FitMachine 3XT EX is certified for ATEX II 1G and Ex ia IIC T4 Ga environments, with an operating temperature range from –25°C to +75°C. This makes it suitable for deployment in environments such as oil and gas facilities, chemical processing plants, and other hazardous industrial locations where intrinsic safety is mandatory.

MOVUS has supported hazardous-area monitoring applications for several years, and our FitMachine 3XT EX reflects the lessons learned from real-world deployments, including the need for stable communications, predictable power performance, and hardware that can withstand long service lives in challenging conditions.

Datasheets are available to customers who are assessing suitability, planning future deployments, or reviewing their hazardous-area monitoring strategies.
