‘Australia’s Mining Monthly’ Mining Consultant of the Year gong in 2018 was awarded to Xenith Consulting Pty Ltd, a multi-disciplinary consultancy that provides end-to-end consultancy services to a range of resource-related industries.

Xenith was able to provide the large ASX listed coal mining company Yancoal with the required engineering and geological services along with detailed financial analysis in order for Yancoal to make a multibillion dollar acquisition decision of the Rio Tinto Hunter Valley Coal mines with confidence.

This well-deserved, Transmin-sponsored award provided recognition to the Brisbane-based business with specific accolades given to the team based in Singleton in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.

Manager of the Singleton office, David Lennard was singled out for special mention after personally assisting Yancoal with both strategic and operational advice relating to the acquisition of Hunter Valley coal mining assets.

Xenith’s Brisbane and Sydney offices were able to complement the Hunter Valley team in order to meet the client’s ongoing requirements.

Over the course of time, Xenith was able to provide an expanded range of services that even included the training and mentoring of site staff.

Feedback from Yancoal’s key, client contact was as follows:

“Dave has provided Yancoal with mining engineering support over the past two years including playing a major role in Yancoal’s acquisition of Rio Tinto’s Hunter Valley Assets in 2017. Dave’s greatest assets include his professional approach to technical tasks and problem-solving and his outstanding focus on customer service,” said Jeffrey Torkington, Chief Mining Engineer, Yancoal Australia Ltd.

This Mining Consultant of the Year award was based on feedback from Yancoal, as well as another emerging mining company that required a similar range of geological, engineering and financial services as part of a mine acquisition.
