DRA’s small projects (turnkey) have now become an integral part of the DRA Mineral Projects profile. This is in response to a need in our clients’ mineral processing requirements, which became evident as the original DRA company grew in size and stature along with the projects it was required to undertake.

Since its inception in 2002, DRA’s turnkey projects have successfully completed over 50 plants to the combined value of over 2 billion rands, covering minerals such as coal, diamonds, chrome, manganese and platinum.

Recent projects include:

  • 180t/hr mill and spirals plant producing export quality chrome at Nkomati Mine
  • 2 x 150t/hr diamond modules to be containerized and shipped to Russia for Alrosa
  • 350t/hr coal washing plant for De beers at Morupule Colliery, Palape, Botswana
  • 250t/hr # 2 coal wash plant in Sebuku Indonesia in conjunction with DRAP – Australia
  • Coobina Fines and DMS Project in conjunction with DRAP – Australia

Although our workload was affected by the recent credit crunch, which affected some prospective chrome projects, the order book is still steady with existing projects, including:

  • Mafube fines-handling conveyor system for Anglo Coal in Mpumalanga
  • Dorstfontein 400t/hr coal wash facility for Total Coal in Kriel
  • 670t/hr secondary crushing and cleaner cell upgrade for Two Rivers Mine in Lydenburg

The immediate future sees us working with existing clients such as Leeuwpan Mine (Exxaro) with plant expansion studies, Total Coal at Dorstfontein where we are quoting on a 10.5km overland conveyor, which forms a portion of wash plant currently in our design office, as well as five new diamond module proposals for Russia.
