Great Western Exploration has begun a 3,000m air core drilling campaign at the Diorama copper-gold target in its Yerrida North Project in Western Australia.

The Diorama target is located in the Yerrida Basin, approximately 70km from the DeGrussa copper-gold deposit owned by Sandfire Resources. It was identified as a potential DeGrussa-style system, initially defined by a significant copper anomaly.

The Yerrida North Project is located approximately 800km north-east of Perth.

The site is situated next to the Bryah Basin, an area known for the DeGrussa and Monty copper-gold deposits, which are classified as volcanic-hosted massive sulphide systems.

No drilling has previously taken place at Diorama.

According to the company, field mapping at the site revealed gossanous quartz associated with limited surface outcrop, with some mapped areas extending more than 100m.

Much of the target area has shallow cover, which may conceal copper mineralisation beneath the surface.

The current programme is designed to test this area for copper anomalism and investigate the gossanous outcrop zones further.

Great Western Exploration said that the presence of gossanous quartz may indicate the existence of strongly weathered sulphides beneath the surface, which could be associated with copper-gold mineralisation.

Observations also show that these gossan units are layered with siltstone and shale.

Following the completion of the Diorama air core campaign, the company plans to conduct reverse circulation drilling at six nearby copper-gold targets at its Juggernaut project. This phase is expected to start in July 2026, with subsequent drilling planned at the Baroo Copper-Gold target.

The Juggernaut targets – Archer, Falconer, Howard, Palmer, Seymour and Smith – were defined through stratigraphic, structural and geochemical assessment and overlay a broad copper-lead-zinc anomaly.

Additionally, Great Western Exploration plans to advance exploration across other copper-gold targets in the Yerrida Basin, aiming to bring more areas to drill-ready status.
