Anson Resources, via its wholly owned subsidiary UV1 Minerals, has announced the start of drilling operations at the Yellow Cat Uranium-Vanadium Project in Utah, US.

The aim is to assess the extension of mineralisation over a strike length of 4,500m between historic uranium and vanadium mining sites.

A total of 1,000m (3,281ft) will be drilled across 24 sites located east of the historical resource.

The aircore drilling programme, which aims for an average depth of 42m (138ft), is expected to conclude within two weeks.

Earlier exploration by Anson yielded significant results, with values reaching as high as 10.33% triuranium octoxide and 25.6% vanadium pentoxide.

The project area encompasses an east-west striking zone within the Morrison Formation’s sandstone units, previously identified as containing high-grade mineralisation.

The drilling will concentrate on connecting known sites such as the Windy Point and Cactus Rat mine groups.

In addition to confirming mineralisation continuity, Anson intends to perform diamond coring in some zones for detailed uranium and vanadium assays and metallurgical analysis.

Additionally, a programme involving reverse circulation and diamond drilling is planned to replicate historical drill-holes in the central block to verify previous assay results.

If these results are confirmed, it could lead to the historical resource being potentially upgraded to meet the 2012 Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) mineral resource standards.

The presence of numerous open drill-holes offers an opportunity for new downhole surveys, which could lower the expenses associated with a broader drilling initiative.

The area’s water table seems to align closely with primary uranium and vanadium mineralisation.
