Outline Global is a leader in geospatial innovation, changing how organisations visualise and interact with their environments. Since 2014 we commercialised Australia’s first portable, high-resolution, survey-grade camera pod system, the Gtech™, which transformed on-demand aerial surveying by enabling adaptive coverage instead of rigid, predetermined plans. We have grown into a full end-to-end aerial intelligence provider, delivering engineering-grade, wide-scale geospatial content to major enterprises and government clients in mining, environmental management, infrastructure and biosecurity. Trusted by more than 200 clients across mining, government, environmental and biosecurity sectors, we provide data-intensive solutions that solve complex real-world challenges. Certified to ISO9001:2015 and operating across Australia and internationally, we turn raw data into actionable insights that drive operational excellence.

Company overview

Founded in 2007, Outline Global has collected imagery covering over eight million square kilometres and maintains a team of 25–50 employees, offering immediate capture capabilities and robust service continuity.

Integrated service offering

Our end-to-end aerial intelligence service integrates three core capabilities—airborne monitoring, advanced data engineering and spatial AI—into a single workflow that converts raw aerial data into operational intelligence. This document summarises the technologies, methodologies and expertise that underpin our services and explains our monitoring resources, data engineering infrastructure and spatial AI capabilities. Further product sheets and detailed information are available on our website, www.outlineglobal.com.au.

Monitoring and sensor systems

We capture the changing world using high-end sensors and flexible systems. Our Gtech™ platforms use medium and large-format metrically calibrated PhaseOne image sensors together with Riegl and Teledyne LiDAR scanners, allowing tailored, cost-effective sensor combinations for each project. All systems employ modern multi-constellation GNSS-INS units from Novatel and Applanix to provide precise flight trajectory coordinates and orientation. The Gtech™ camera and LX LiDAR systems are aviation-certified for use on a range of single- and twin-engine turbine and non-turbine aircraft, and their advanced mounting and modular design support rapid deployment and fast payload changes. The camera system supports seven bands—red, green, blue, near infrared, short-wavelength infrared, long-wavelength infrared and thermal infrared—while larger aircraft carry additional medium and large-format imaging and LiDAR scanners for broad-area mapping and surveillance.

Flight operations and bases

Our flight operations are staffed by experienced pilots and sensor operators working across Australia in compliance with Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) standards. We maintain high safety standards through full BARS compliance and ISO9001:2015 quality management, with aviation operations overseen by an experienced CEO and Head of Aviation Operations and supported by an aviation coordinator. A diverse fleet and cross-hire network ensure supply certainty, scheduled maintenance support and access to seasoned crews. Strategically located bases at Redcliffe, Moorabbin and Jandakot provide ready-to-deploy capability that optimises mobilisation, refuelling and transit efficiency for timely project execution.

Monitoring benefits

Our monitoring capability delivers agile, efficient aerial capture through fixed-wing platforms that rapidly cover large areas and adapt to changing conditions to enable same-day turnarounds. Clients retain full ownership of the data we collect, ensuring their information remains a capital asset rather than a subscription service liability. Our fleet covers a wide range of applications—from high-altitude expansive coverage to agile aircraft suited to complex terrain—while providing engineering-grade accuracy via GNSS and IMU systems that reduce the need for extensive ground surveying. Comprehensive national coverage, civil aviation compliance, strong safety performance and ISO9001:2015 adherence complete the assurance clients receive when engaging our monitoring services.

Geospatial data engineering capability

Our geospatial data engineering capability is centred in Melbourne with additional support from Brisbane and is staffed by more than fifteen experienced technical specialists who process imagery, LiDAR and elevation data on high-end computing infrastructure. Processing stays within Australia to ensure data sovereignty and regulatory compliance. Our hardware estate includes multiple high-performance photogrammetry and GIS workstations, a centralized 64-core LiDAR processing server, enterprise-grade server trains with NVMe and HDD redundancy yielding total storage capacity exceeding two petabytes, and a high-speed network backbone with 10Gbps standardised infrastructure and a 100Gbe Juniper switch core. Business-grade symmetrical fibre connections in Melbourne and Perth, combined with an Oracle Cloud data warehouse and spatial processing platform, provide reliable high-speed data transfer and delivery. The in-house environment is complemented by cloud resources for scalable, rapid turnarounds when projects demand it.

Processing software and workflows

Our processing software stack blends open-source and proprietary tools. For image capture and management we use PhaseOne CaptureOne Pro and IXCapture enhanced by custom Python modules for advanced image manipulation, BRDF correction and automated multi-band registration. Navigation and trajectory processing leverage Novatel Inertial Explorer with near-real-time subscription services and Applanix POSPAC with Trimble RTX. Photogrammetric workflows employ RACURS Photomod and Agisoft Metashape with custom ‘OnePass’ automation for block, ortho and DEM production. LiDAR processing is supported by Riegl RiProcess, BayesMap (StripAlign and Wavex), Teledyne Optech LMS tools, Terrasolid (Terrascan and TerraBatch) and Lastools. General GIS and data management use GlobalMapper, Hexagon Geocompressor and ESRI ArcGIS Pro. Centralised quality assurance and a consistent Melbourne photogrammetry office maintain standards across all projects.

Data engineering benefits

Operating exclusively within Australia provides data sovereignty and reduced exposure to third-party access, while our hybrid on-premise and cloud approach ensures scalable processing power and resilient services even when external connectivity is limited. Local infrastructure and personnel enable rapid turnaround for time-critical tasks and direct technical support for complex, custom requirements.

Spatial AI and longitudinal datasets

Our Spatial AI capability builds on more than a decade of geospatial experience and a track record of integrating AI into real-world applications. The Spatial AI team combines expertise in GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, LiDAR, computer vision, cloud computing, programming, data science and machine learning, with members holding advanced degrees and published research. They work closely with our capture and processing teams to ensure seamless integration from data collection through to analysis. Our curated datasets total an estimated 100 TB of training data derived from petabytes of raw and processed imagery, elevation models and LiDAR point clouds, representing a longitudinal archive that in some locations spans over 15 years. This time-series depth enables enhanced predictive analytics, large-scale variation and change detection, and sophisticated volume and impact assessments.

Spatial AI benefits

Spatial AI delivers precisely geolocated change detection across spatial, vertical and temporal dimensions, providing an unbiased, objective foundation for decision-making underpinned by accurate flyover-derived data. Our on-site processing infrastructure maintains secure, reliable analysis within Australia to preserve data integrity and sovereignty. Solutions are modular, adaptable and designed for rapid extension to new use cases, reflecting our experience across diverse projects from invasive species management to wildlife conservation and mine rehabilitation. Our AI outputs are engineered for seamless integration into customer workflows, maximising usability and ensuring clients can act quickly and confidently on the insights we deliver.
