Silverco Mining has announced the mobilisation of underground mining contractors at its wholly owned Cusi property in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The company has appointed Mafrissa Transportes y Maquinaria (Mafrissa) and Rencer Servicio a la Mineria (Rencer) to handle development and production mining activities at the site.
Each contractor will oversee one of the zones, with operations set to begin at Promontorio and San Miguel.
The Cusi Silver Complex is a licensed underground mine with a history of production, situated in the Sierra Madre Occidental belt, an area recognised for its deposits of silver, lead, zinc and gold.
Silverco expects the first ore from the Promontorio zone late in the third quarter of 2026 (Q3 2026).
The Promontorio area, last mined in 2023, has since undergone dewatering and rehabilitation works by Silverco.
According to the company, underground drilling is under way, and recent results have intersected new mineralisation within the scope of planned mine development.
The San Miguel zone, described as a key area at the Cusi property, has not previously been subjected to modern mining methods.
A new portal and ramp are to be constructed, with initial ore production from San Miguel expected to increase during the first half of 2027 (H1 2027).
Silverco CEO Mark Ayranto said: “Mobilisation of contractors is an important milestone in our Cusi restart plan. The two contractors now active at Cusi are well-established and experienced local firms with extensive underground mining experience.
“With this work and the mill rehabilitation work under way, we remain on schedule to produce first concentrate in Q4 2026 and exit 2026 with two producing silver mines in Mexico.
“We look forward to providing additional updates from both Cusi and La Negra over the coming weeks, with significant catalysts expected through H2 2026 relating to restart and productivity improvement activities at Cusi and La Negra, respectively, and sizeable exploration programmes at both projects.”
Mafrissa, based in Cuauhtémoc and less than 20km from the Cusi property, focuses on underground development, mining support, heavy equipment rental and material haulage.
Rencer, also based in Cuauhtémoc, previously operated at the Cusi site and has a strong understanding of the mine.
